Title: Fungal decay resistance of aspen blocks treated with heartwood extracts
Description:
Methanol extracts from black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), osage orange (Maclura pomifera), redwood (Sequoia sempervirens), and Intsia byuga heartwood were used to increase the decay resistance of aspen (Populus tremuloides) blocks. At a 10 percent retention level, treated aspen blocks exposed to a brown-rot fungus showed a weight loss decrease of 95 percent.
